We are excited to announce that the SAVES 2 energy dashboard has won the Digital Innovation award at the Best In Class Awards 2019!
The Best in Class Awards were established in 2016 in order to recognise, highlight and promote companies and initiatives at the forefront of student living, working and learning. De Montfort University, Ecovisum and NUS UK entered the SAVES 2 Dashboard software in the "Class Digital Innovation Award" category, and won!
The Digital Innovation award "recognises the development and application of the innovative digital technology that contributes to enhancing the quality of the student living". The goals of the award are for an innovation that increases student and staff engagement, interaction and responsiveness, and enhances student living." See more on The Class of 2020 website here. The Energy Dashboard engages students in energy-saving initiatives by tracking consumption in over 140 student dormitories across 14 UK and EU universities, enabling them to set up competitions between residencies that display dynamically-updated 'leaderboards' of energy savings for each competitor, viewable on any device from mobile to public screens. Digital data is automatically processed by the software, calculating 'baselines' against which realistic savings targets can be set. The aim is to enable students to develop an awareness of their energy use, and to encourage habits that will persist after leaving university.
