How To Save Energy in your halls

Saving energy in halls can be very simple. SAVES 2 makes huge energy savings across Europes by promoting these four core actions:

  • Switch off lights and appliances

This is the simplest and most obvious tip. But while most people are already pretty good at switching lights and gadgets off it’s always worth a reminder.

  • Put a lid on it

Putting a lid on your saucepan reduces the amount of energy required to cook your food by up to 90% and cooks your food quicker.

  • Don’t overfill the kettle

Don’t waste your time by overfilling up the kettle with more water than you need. 200ml is plenty of water for a single cuppa and it’ll boil in no time.

  • Put a layer on, not the heating

When things get chilly, instead of turning up your radiator just put on a jumper or a nice jacket . A jumper adds a whopping 3 degrees of warmth to your body and often makes you look even more stylish.
