Another successful energy-saving academic year seems to be in full swing at the Technical University of Crete (TUC)!
Over the last three years, SAVES 2 has continued to run successfully at the Technical University of Crete and further afield in Crete. At the beginning of the 2019-20 academic year, plenty of visits/events took place on the TUC campus, organized by the SAVES 2 Coordinator and student ambassadors. During these visits/events many new students were informed about the project and the upcoming actions. In addition to this a visit was also organised at the University of Rethimno. University of Rethimno and Univesity of Heraklion are two of the universities that TUC is working with to disseminate information on Student Switch Off+ (for students living in the private rented sector), informing their students about energy saving practices on a monthly basis.
Two further events that took place in TUC were ‘’Welcome day’’ and ‘’Science day’’. During these events students were informed about the project and given aomw daily energy-saving tips and actions, that can help them to reduce their energy bills through saving energy! This term two photo competitions (raising awareness on energy saving actions) have already taken place on social media, and two more will be organized to further raise awareness and engage students. As in previous years, the prizes available for students who take part are ferry tickets which are sponsored by ferry companies ANEK LINES & BLUE STAR FERRIES.
Finally there is of course the energy competition between the dormitories of TUC, which shows an promising picture of saving energy.
